Another year, another incredible celebration of school dance in Brighton! Let’s Dance 2019 returned to the Brighton Dome with the same vibrancy and creativity we’ve all come to expect. If you’ve been following this festival for a while, you’ll know that it’s not just about the performances on stage—it’s about the way this event brings our community together.
With over 70 schools from across Brighton and Hove taking part, the Dome was once again filled with the energy of hundreds of students giving it their all on stage. From the youngest dancers just starting to find their rhythm to the seasoned performers who’ve been coming back year after year, 2019’s edition of Let’s Dance felt like a true celebration of everything Brighton does best.
2019: A Year of Celebration and Achievements
As Brighton celebrated the talent of our young dancers, 2019 felt like a year when everyone was pushing forward. On the national stage, Lewis Capaldi’s heartfelt ballad “Someone You Loved” spent several weeks at the top of the UK charts in March, perfectly setting the tone for a month filled with emotion and creativity.
Closer to home, Brighton’s thriving arts scene continued to grow, and our commitment to sustainability remained as strong as ever. The city saw continued efforts to reduce single-use plastics, and local initiatives aimed at keeping Brighton green were in full swing. As we watched students take to the stage at Let’s Dance, it was hard not to feel proud of the way our city constantly pushes for a better future while nurturing the talent of the next generation.
Dance as a Reflection of Who We Are
Let’s Dance 2019 wasn’t just about the performances—it was about showing how much our schools, teachers, and students care about their art. The atmosphere in the Dome was electric, with each routine more impressive than the last. From high-energy group performances that had the audience clapping along to more intimate, contemporary pieces that brought a tear to the eye, the variety on display reminded us all of the sheer talent that lives in every corner of our city.
What made this year’s event particularly special was seeing so many familiar faces, from returning dancers to parents and teachers who’ve been involved for years. It’s moments like these that show just how much Let’s Dance is woven into the fabric of Brighton. We don’t just see it as an annual event—we see it as a celebration of who we are.
Relive the Magic
As always, the magic of Let’s Dance doesn’t end when the curtain falls. Our photo gallery from the event captures all the joy, passion, and hard work that went into each performance, and the official DVD’s are still available for those who want to experience the evening all over again. Whether you were there in the audience or cheering from afar, Let’s Dance 2019 was a night to remember for everyone involved.
Let’s keep dancing, Brighton—we can’t wait to see what Lets Dance 2020 brings!
