Held at the Brighton Dome, this year’s performance captivated audiences with an impressive range of dances choreographed by both students and staff. The show was part of a busy week at the Dome, where the (/lets-dance-brighton/ “Let’s Dance”) event, also  took place, making it an exciting but long week for all involved.

With both the Dorothy Stringer Dance Show and Let’s Dance happening during the same week, it was a particularly intense time for the team at the Dome. Despite the challenges, the energy and enthusiasm from the students shone through, resulting in a week that celebrated dance on all fronts.

A Year of Unforgettable PerformancesThe 2018 show featured a variety of performances, ranging from powerful contemporary pieces to upbeat jazz numbers. Highlights included:• “A Taste of What’s to Come!” – A captivating opener that set the tone for the evening, with music by Clint Mansell.• “Radiation Mutation” – Choreographed by Angus Ruffett, this piece explored the Chernobyl disaster, using powerful imagery to represent the effects of radiation.• “Organised Chaos” – A fun, high-energy performance choreographed by a group of students, featuring music by Earth, Wind & Fire, Flume, and Justin Timberlake.• “Essence of Hofesh” – A standout performance by the Gifted & Talented group, paying homage to the acclaimed choreographer Hofesh Shechter.## Student Choreography ShinesMany of the pieces in the 2018 show were choreographed by the students themselves, showcasing their creativity and passion. Performances like “ Piper Alpha”, “ Beneath”, and “ Drop” used themes from the new GCSE dance specifications, demonstrating the students’ ability to connect real-world events and concepts to their choreography.## Behind the ScenesThe success of the 2018 Dorothy Stringer Dance Show was due in part to the dedicated backstage team.
